He awakes

to the soft buzzing of the tent’s zipper being pulled shut. The soft shadow of the one he loves falls gently on the walls of their weekend home. “She’s alone?” He wonders with a flicker of fear yet a hint of pride. “Why didn’t she wake me” As the shadow rounds it’s way to the rear of the tent. “If I go out now I will cause far more fear than comfort” His thoughts wrestle desire. The purpose of her journey begins. “Did she want to show me she was brave? Would I not wake for her?” He searches for the reason they are both alone. As she begins her return to be with her forever love he shifts his weight and position to be fully prepared to accept her back into his arms. Once again the buzz of the zipper. She stumbles toward him. As her chilled body enters his arms he pulls her face in close and with a warm breath whispers “Don’t leave me” She begins to get comfortable but he squeezes her tight bringing his warm, almost hot, lips to her face. “I love you” “I love you too” They whisper with true passion as they slowly slip back into nights embrace.
